Commercial Vehicle Accidents Down 52% - January 07, 2011
Accidents involving commercial vehicles have dropped approximatley 52 % since 2005.  In 2005 there were 173 fatal crashes compared to 88 fatal crashes  in 2009.   Disabling injury crashes also fell 31 % from 2005-2009.

Although there are several factors for the reduction of accidents including an emphasis on safety and education, the main reason cited was a lower number of lane departure crashes.  These crashes have been reduced primarily because of the addition of rumble strips and guard cables places along our highways.
